Another Step

Guess what? Can you tell what this picture is?

Notice the sign in the front? My house is officially up for sale starting today. It'll be in the MLS listings by tomorrow afternoon. Woohoo! I have an agent that I like, will pay a less commission than I expected, and the listing price is about what I expected.

One more step on the way to what I am really looking forward to--moving back to OKLAHOMA!

Sadness

My hometown has lost one of its finest. A Chickasha firefighter passed away Friday night from injuries sustained in a wildfire at the beginning of March. He was my age, a father and husband, an active member of his church and community. I didn't know him, but my dad is a retired firefighter himself and he did. The community has reached out and wrapped its hands around his wife, children, and extended family. Here's some video.
You may have to register for this one. You can use my email: jennifer dot burnes at verizon dot net and my password is password.

Check out the video for Saturday w/ Ali Meyer, an Oklahoma town remembers a hero. My dad is in this clip a couple times while cooking.

There's one more local network that hasn't posted their footage yet. The community raised nearly $30,000 for his family on Saturday.

As the daughter of a retired firefighter, it breaks my heart that his daughters are living the fears I had as a young child--their daddy went out to fight a fire and never came home. God be with them.

What was I going to say?

I'm absent minded. I forget things. I actually had something I was going to blog about. Now I can't remember what. So excuse me while I go and try to find my mind and maybe I'll be back when I find it. :)

Oreo Chunk Cookies

Have you ever used a cookie to make a cookie? I did! These are pretty good. I think I like plain oreos and chocolate chip cookies better though. Still, it was fun to try. I'll post the recipe later.

Wow! Where Did the Time Go?

Has it really been about 2 weeks since I last posted? Well, I guess if the next few months go that fast, I'll be back in Oklahoma in no time at all!

See my reference about the little boy my dad met a few posts ago? Well, I met the same little boy. He is a ham, definitely a little charmer. He didn't want to talk to me much, but he'll come around because I WILL BE HIS TEACHER NEXT YEAR!!! Happy dance, happy dance. I observed, played, got my hands dirty, got a few hugs, oh--and interviewed in the midst of all of that. I received a call yesterday asking if I wanted the job. Of course I said yes! The way everything fell into place just makes me feel like this is meant to be--that school is where I was supposed to land!

So, I'll be teaching in the Norman School District, which is the same city that the University of Oklahoma is in. I am excited about that as well! My parents are coming down Sunday to do some house work for me. I'll be back to work, as this was my spring break. I hope to put it on the market w/i the next 2 weeks. Fun fun!

My blog is turning towards the 'about my life' and will probably be more so once the house is being shown, as I probably won't do much cooking then. It'll be sandwiches and salads for the duration, I'm afraid. However, I do have something in store for tomorrow, so I'll post reviews and pictures then. Here's what it entails:

Stay tuned!
